Idaho Vandals Tickets

The Idaho Vandals represent the University of Idaho in NCAA Division-I football in the Western Athletic Conference. The University of Idaho, located in Moscow, Idaho, has been the home of Idaho Vandals football since the early 1900's. The unique moniker comes from University of Idaho Basketball. In 1917 the University of Idaho basketball program was so successful that sports writers talked about the team as vandalizing their opponents, the nickname stuck and by 1921 the University of Idaho athletic program had a name. Today all of the University of Idaho teams go by the Idaho Vandals, but the name is most closely associated with Men's Basketball and Idaho Vandals Football.

Currently the Idaho Vandals football program is associated with the Western Athletic Conference as a Division-I school by NCAA ranking. However, the relatively small school has been affiliated with the Big Sky Conference as a charter member that played Division-IAA football. Although the Idaho Vandals Football Program is smaller than other Division-I schools they have still managed to build up rivalries against other more well known teams. One of the fiercest rivalries the Idaho Vandals play in is the annual match-up against Washington State which is only a few miles away in Pullman. The two teams play in the "Battle for the Palouse" and while the Washington State Cougars hold a strong lead in the series, the Idaho Vandals roster has made it clear that they will not be pushed around by the bigger school. Currently the rivalry rules are being changed and the Idaho Vandals - Washington State Cougars game may not be an annual match-up. The Idaho Vandals roster has a somewhat personal rivalry against Boise State due to the proximity of the schools and the fact that most of the members of the Idaho Vandals roster played high school and little league football with members of the Boise State football roster. This "brotherhoods" get pushed into competing on the field and the game is almost always a sell out of family members and friends who are cheering for both sides.

The Idaho Vandals play their home football games at Kibbie Dome a multi-purpose arena that severs not only the Idaho Vandals football team but also Vandals basketball, tennis and track. The enclosed concrete football stadium is currently the smallest NCAA Division-IA. The Kibbie Dome Seating Chart can only hold 18,000 Idaho Vandals fans and has been close to capacity several times, most recently at a match-up against Boise State.
